WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONNECTED DRIVE & CONNECTED DRIVE UPGRADES?
BMW ConnectedDrive comprises of all digital services that intelligently connect your BMW with the outside world. To use ConnectedDrive you must have a BMW ID and have added your vehicle to your BMW ID. Your BMW must also have a permanently installed and active SIM card. Download the My BMW App to make the most of the services offered.
The BMW ConnectedDrive umbrella includes: teleservices, the My BMW App, Remote Software Upgrades, as well as ConnectedDrive Upgrades. BMW ConnectedDrive Upgrades specifically, are optional paid subscription services that you can add to your BMW at any given time. Features include: enhanced entertainment offerings, enhanced driver assistance systems, and enhanced traffic services.

Will the data on the BMW ConnectedDrive servers be linked to my vehicle identification number and my name?
No. To provide BMW ConnectedDrive Services such as TeleService, Remote Services or status information, BMW only links data to the identification number of your vehicle, not to your name.
Do I incur any costs (roaming charges) when using my BMW ConnectedDrive services abroad?
You can use your BMW ConnectedDrive services abroad free of charge, without incurring any costs (roaming charges), as the mobile connection is made via the SIM card permanently installed in your BMW. Please note that Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa use your smartphone’s data connection and may incur roaming charges depending on the country.
How do I purchase BMW ConnectedDrive services for my BMW and how long are they available for?
To select from a range of digital services available, and find out which are specific to your BMW, log into the BMW ConnectedDrive store with your BMW ID via the link below. You can equip your vehicle with new functions whenever you need them. The different contract options available will vary per product. Simply choose the length of term that suits you best, choose your payment option and the digital services will be transmitted over-the-air to your BMW. Some products offer a free-trial, allowing you to try out new features in your BMW before you commit to purchasing.
When I change vehicles, are the services I have booked transferred to my new vehicle?
BMW ConnectedDrive services are all booked for a specific vehicle as they are chassis specific. When a vehicle changes hands, it's services can be used by the new owner for the remaining service life. You will have to rebook the services for your new vehicle.

Why can't my imported BMW vehicle use BMW ConnectedDrive services?
The use of BMW ConnectedDrive may be restricted if you export your BMW from a country that does not offer BMW ConnectedDrive or has a different mobile technology than the country of import.

What are the benefits of the BMW remote software upgrade?
With a BMW Remote Software Upgrade, the software in your BMW always stays up to date. Your BMW receives new functions, functional upgrades and quality improvements as required or regularly several times a year.
The "BMW Remote Software Upgrades" service is available for BMW vehicles with Operating System 7 (from service pack 2018) or newer for at least 3 years after the production date.
How do I download and install a BMW remote software upgrade using the My BMW app?

Can I cancel the installation of a remote software upgrade in My BMW?
No. You cannot cancel the installation of a Remote Software Upgrade. Installation can take approx. 20 - 30 minutes. You will not be able to use your vehicle during the installation.
